McMaster signs new agreement with HP
Hamilton, ON. February 5, 2009 – McMaster University has signed a five-year agreement with HP that will allow the University to reduce their total cost of ownership on computer-related equipment. McMaster has selected Hamilton-based Audcomp Computer Systems as the technology provider.
The agreement will be announced tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers at McMaster University.
“It makes absolute sense, especially during tough economic times, for institutions to find ways to reduce their costs,” said Peter George, president of McMaster University. “This arrangement gives McMaster departments and units a new option to save money when they upgrade their computers, printers and servers.”
“At HP we''re committed to the transformation of education through technology,” said Paul Tsaparis, president and chief executive officer, HP Canada. “We’re proud that HP products have been selected to be part of McMaster’s technology solution."
This is the first such agreement between a Canadian university and HP.
The HP equipment will be supplied through the university''s chosen partner, Audcomp, whose founder and president, Gary Sohal, is a McMaster alumnus.
“I graduated from McMaster in Engineering, and I have a strong belief in the University and its commitment to teaching students and to research,” says Sohal. “It’s great to have an opportunity to help the University and to partner with HP.”
